You
will attend a Welcome meeting with the Engagement & Volunteer Manager where
you will be introduced to Delapré Abbey Preservation Trust and provided with
information on the role. This will be followed by your first volunteering
session which will become your “induction” – this includes an induction of the
building and attending a History Tour of the abbey, following this you will
attend a further 3 induction sessions.
The Front of House role is very public facing and expect volunteers to be friendly, approachable, and efficient. Front of House involves providing the first welcoming impression to visitors, helping to give key information, tickets, and directions, as well as promoting products in the shop. They are looking for volunteers to take pride in the appearance of the visitor space, helping to continue in the care and management of the site. Consequently, organised and reliable volunteers needed.
Principle tasks involved:
- Manning the ticket desk including booking visitors in for their visit, selling on the day tickets
- Selling shop items, restocking items and keeping a log of current stock in the shop for re-ordering purposes
- Delivery key visitor information including wayfinding
- Upselling upcoming events and activity across site
- Operating pop-up shops around the site in line with activity
This
is a very public facing role and we expect volunteers to be friendly, approachable,
and efficient. They need people to be able to process and volunteer in times of
high demand and peak visitor seasons and for volunteers to
take pride in the appearance of the visitor space, helping to continue in
the care and management of the site.
Skills
In this role, they are looking for people who are willing to:
• Engage with visitors
• Answer and direct general enquiries as appropriate
• Volunteer as part of a team
• Help in the Visitor Reception with ticketing and retail
• Use and operate tills
