Happy at Home Volunteer Befrienders provide a lifeline for elderly people who are feeling socially isolated and vulnerable in the community.

Volunteer Befrienders provide a listening ear and a friend to chat to, the volunteer may be the persons only contact with the outside world.

Usually our befrienders visit an older person in their own home once a week. Some of our befrienders support an elderly person by helping them to get out for a short walk or a trip to the shops or a coffee in a café. 

All our volunteer befrienders receive training and are DBS checked and are supported by our project co-ordinators
