Do you have a few hours spare to volunteer in your local community, yourself, or with some of your friends?
If you like chatting, meeting people, eating cakes or bacon butties, and generally helping out then this may be for you!
The Happy at Home Project operates in Daventry and across West Northants and we currently organise regular social events for the elderly in Daventry, Brixworth, Long Buckby, Brackley and Kilsby, and aim to extend this to more of the surrounding villages.
We have seen how these social events are making such a positive difference to older peoples lives, those who may be lonely and feeling socially isolated, and we manage to run the events because of wonderful volunteers!
Please contact us if you would like to find out more, email; caroline@daventryvolunteers.org.uk or call us on 01327 300614 or pop into Daventry Volunteer Centre (Next to Tesco)
We are looking for volunteers to help with the running of Breakfast/Brunch clubs which currently run on the following days;
Long Buckby - Mondays
Daventry - Tues/Weds
Brixworth - Thurs
Kilsby - TBC
Brackley - TBC
We need volunteers who can help to set up an event which may include, cooking bacon rolls and making tea and coffee, are happy to help serve the food and chat to the elderly group attending and help clear away at the end of the event.
We also aim to hold quizzes, art and craft sessions, Bingo and music, and if you would like to get involved with any of these, we would love to hear from you.
All reasonable expenses to and from the event etc. will be reimbursed. Lifts will be arranged where possible to reduce expenses and support those volunteers who do not have access to transport. You can volunteer on your own, or with friends. This is an ideal opportunity for small groups of volunteers/friends to get involved as well.
Please contact Caroline or Chris at Daventry Volunteer centre for more information, and about how you can get involved, thank you.
