Befriender to a child/ young person in care who would like to have somebody just for them to do fun activities, offload to or talk things through with, share ideas, hobbies and interests and try new things. Somebody who is non-judgemental and willing to commit to meeting up once a fortnight (ideally) for a couple of hours for a minimum of two years with the hope that this would blossom into a long term friendship over many years.
A mentor/ friend who is there through thick and thin and enables the child/young person to see their own talents and strengths and holds them in a place of high aspiration for their future
Skills
No formal qualifications needed, just a non-judgemental, can do attitude, and a lot of kindness and compassion that you are willing to share with a vulnerable youngster who hasn’t had the best start in life
