The following brief indicates the range of activities involved in running and managing the Trust. These activities do not happen all the time, they are spread across the working year. The Board will work as a team to ensure that everything is in order.
Chair:
Will be involved in:
- Co-ordination all activities as defined by the board.
- Seeking board approval for all Trust activities.
- Writing an annual report.
- Working with bid writers and fundraising consultant to help manage all grant application activities.
- Managing policy reviews.
- Managing Charity Commission responsibilities.
- Carrying out Trustees skills audits.
- Managing all funding to contracted charities’ activities.
- Ensuring a suitable skills spread across the board.
- Managing all regular, special and monitoring meetings.
- Work with the clerk to produce agenda and minutes of meetings.
- Chairing all appropriate meetings.
- Attending appropriate monitoring meetings.
- Signatory for cheques.
Trustee with legal experience:
Will be involved in:
- Advising the board on legal implications of all activities.
- Advise the board of any new legal matters affecting the Trust.
- Advising the board on all deed and policy matters and materials.
- Assisting with policy reviews.
- Advising the board on all matters relating to insurance.
- Advising the board on all funding to contracted charities/organisations.
- Advising the board on all financial activities.
- Attending all appropriate meetings.
Treasurer:
Will be involved in:
- Monitoring all financial activities.
- Liaising as necessary with the Trust’s banks.
- Reporting financial status to the Board.
- Liaising and working with the appointed accountant especially at annual report time.
- Advising the Board when any funded activities are being considered.
- Managing regular payments.
- Signatory for cheques.
- Managing payments to relevant parties.
- Monitoring and reporting on sponsors, gift aid, etc.
- Attending all appropriate meetings.
- Attending appropriate monitoring meetings.
Trustee with care leaver experience:
Will be involved in:
- Attending all appropriate meetings.
- Attending appropriate monitoring meetings.
- Advising on matters associated with care leavers.
- Supporting bid writers and fundraising consultant.
- Providing data associated with care leavers.
- Advising on opportunities for care leavers.
- Advising on the situation relating to, and the needs of, care leavers.
Trustee with council/local government experience/contacts:
Will be involved in:
- Attending all appropriate meetings.
- Attending appropriate monitoring meetings.
- Supporting bid writers and fundraising consultant.
- Advising on matters associated with care leavers.
- Advising on opportunities for care leavers.
- Advising on new or upcoming rules and regulations associated with care leavers.
Other Trustees /volunteers:
Will be involved in:
- Assisting with administration work.
- Supporting bid writers and fundraising consultant.
- Bid writing.
- Maintaining fundraising records including lists of end of grant reports.
- Identifying, planning and organising fundraising socials and events.
- Identifying and recruiting sponsors including those private individuals and those in industry, business and commerce.
- Maintaining list of sponsors.
- Communicating with sponsors.
- Maintaining the Trust website.
- Maintaining the Trust social media sites.
- Supporting contracted charities and organisations.
- Attending all appropriate meetings.
- Attending appropriate monitoring meetings.
- Christmas cards.
Skills
We are seeking some new trustees to support our work, specifically anyone who may have an interest in supporting our marketing/publicity area. i.e. design of leaflets to attract sponsors, maintaining our website and looking after social media.
