Become a Garden Buddy!
Do you have a passion for gardening and a heart for helping others? We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our relaunched Garden Buddies, an exciting volunteer-fuelled project dedicated to maintaining the gardens of elderly and disabled local people who have no other way to maintain their outdoor spaces.
What it’s Like Being a Garden Buddy?
A Garden Buddy is someone who loves getting their hands a little dirty and enjoys the steady rhythm of outdoor work. Since our garden is a living, breathing space, this role is perfect for those who feel at home staying active and moving throughout the day.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Tending the Soil: Engaging in light gardening tasks like weeding, planting, and mulching.
- Using Garden Tools: Comfortably handling hand tools (like trowels and pruners) and operating basic equipment (such as lawnmowers or hose reels).
-
Staying active: Navigating the clients’ outdoor space, spending time on your feet to ensure every garden gets the love it needs.
Skills
Is This the Right Fit for You?

to be an inclusive space and welcome Garden Buddies of various fitness levels!
This role is best suited for individuals who:
- Enjoy Physical Activity: You’re happy with a
"light workout" as part of your day.
- Have Good Dexterity: You can safely manage
garden tools and equipment.
- Are Outdoorsy: You’re comfortable working in various weather conditions and on slightly uneven terrain.
Our Commitment to Inclusion: We believe everyone has a "green thumb" in their own way. If you have a passion for gardening but have questions about specific physical requirements or need certain accommodations to help you succeed, please reach out! We’d love to chat about how you can contribute to our growing community.
