How Poppy Appeal Organisers make a difference.  The amazing network of Poppy Appeal Organisers bring poppies to the heart of each community, allowing the nation to commemorate and honour those who have served and sacrificed. Their vital fundraising efforts allow the Royal British Legion to provide lifelong support to serving and ex serving personnel and their families.

What do Poppy Appeal Organisers do?   

  • Poppy Appeal Organisers (PAO), who could be an individual, or from a group, club or business, will be the first point of contact for the appeal in their district
  • They are fully trained and supported by a Relationship Manager at the Royal British legion.   
  • PAO's galvanise support for volunteering within their community to maximise the reach of poppies, and to maximise fundraising.
  • They co-ordinate and manage those volunteers throughout the Poppy Appeal campaign.   
  • They order, distribute and manage poppy stock, accurately accounting for and banking all monies taken.

Skills

  • You will be someone that is committed to and passionate about the Legion’s vision and values and you’ll enjoy the challenge of volunteering in a community fundraising role.
  • Experience in planning and coordinating resources and people.   
  • Ability to build long lasting relationships with individuals and groups.   
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.   
  • A good level of proficiency in using information technology, including use of email, websites and being able to access and use documents online.   
  • Excellent time management.   
  • An ability to volunteer independently but also as part of and when leading a team. 
  • A commitment to acting in line with Legion policies and procedures, including those relating to data protection; confidentiality; safeguarding; health and  safety, equality and diversity.

Availability Details

This position is an all year round role but only requires a couple of hours per week Jan-Sept. From September onwards you will need to spend 4-8 hours per week up till October then role will require 10 hours per week until start of the annual Poppy Appeal (24th October) where you will need to devote 17-25 hours per week until 11th November.


Location

This opportunity can be carried out whilst working from home.
