Rothwell Good Neighbour Scheme is where volunteers provide support and assistance to local people, particularly the elderly and vulnerable. This might be help with shopping, a lift to a medical appointment, walking their dog or another simple task.
To provide support to older people and/or those with disabilities living within Rothwell and the surrounding area by carrying out tasks as a one off or a regular basis.
This could include:
- Providing transport and/ or escorting someone to a hospital or medical appointment
- Carrying out light food shopping
- Supporting someone with mobility issues to go for a short walk
- Pet care/dog walkingÂ
- Collecting prescriptions
- Assisting with correspondence
- Supporting someone to read their energy metre
- Gardening
- Simple tasks around the home
- Befriending
The above list is not extensive. There are many ways in which if you have the time, you could support an older or disabled member of the Rothwell community. The most important quality needed for this role is a willingness to help.
