We are seeking new trustees with an interest in joining the board of a well established, successful community centre on the Queensway Estate in Wellingborough. Our main functions are as a day centre for older people which runs 5 days a week and a venue for hire 7 days a week, morning, afternoon and evening. We also run a youth club for local young people and host a youth theatre group which is run by one of our trustees. We employ 9 members of staff but we are a very 'hands-on' group of people and have frequent interactions with the staff and users of the centre. This is not a 'meetings only' role.
Skills
A business background is useful but not essential. Practical skills such as building maintenance are always useful. A knowledge of the local area and other organisations in and around Wellingborough is desirable. A willingness to get involved is the main thing.

Our board meetings are on a Sunday morning, approximately six weeks apart. We also need help at our two main community events which take place on a Saturday in July and December. We encourage trustees to get involved with our activities such as the youth club, the day centre for older people, monthly indoor boot sales, gardening, the annual Wellingborough Carnival (on the day and creating the decorations for the float).
