We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable Volunteer Gallery Assistants to support the day-to-day running of our gallery space at Arts Collective.
Arts Collective is a non-profit organisation and charity dedicated to supporting artists and providing free public education on contemporary art in Northampton. Working across exhibitions, commissions, local archives, residencies, studios, performances, learning activity, and food-led programmes, the organisation collaborates closely with artists and communities to redefine how contemporary art is made, shared, and experienced.
This is a great opportunity for individuals interested in the arts, community engagement, customer service and gaining hands-on experience in a creative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Welcome and engage all visitors, providing a friendly and informative experience
Assist with the opening and closing of the gallery
Monitor exhibitions to ensure the safety of artwork and visitors
Provide basic information about current exhibitions, artists, and events
Support the installation and de-installation of exhibitions (where appropriate)
Assist with events, workshops, and private viewings
Help maintain a clean, organised, and inviting gallery space
Handle basic administrative tasks such as visitor counts and feedback collection

Availability Details
Wednesday to Saturday 3.5 Hour Gallery shifts Wednesday to Saturday 10:45 - 2:15 or 1:45 - 5:15 available and cover for the reception / information desk greeting visitors upon arrival. There may be additional opportunities to assist with evening events and exhibition opening events.
