We are looking for volunteers throughout the North Northants area, who will join the charity Support Northamptonshire and become a part of the Support North Northants Team employed across the voluntary, statutory and private sectors and to make sure service users ‘tell their story once’.
We are looking for positive and motivated volunteers who want to make a difference to people supporting them to access the services they need.
Full training will be provided, flexible hours to suit.
1. Support people to access community groups using their own transport or researching local groups an individual can access independently 2. Attend GP and Health appointments with service users 3. Collect and deliver prescriptions if individuals are unable access themselves 4. Regular wellbeing telephone calls, reporting back any concerns to the SNN team 5. Joint visits with SNN team where appropriate 6. Low level befriending support, helping individuals build confidence, resilience and general life skills such as domestic shopping, collecting prescriptions etc.. 7. Report any concerns and safeguarding issues no matter how small to the SNN team 8. Complete mandatory training and follow the advice and guidance from the team 9. Be responsible for own health and safety.
Skills
• Community member who enjoys supporting people who need help • Someone part of a community group, centre or neighbourhood watch scheme • Someone who has experience of being in the same situation as some of our service users • Someone who has previous work experience of person -centred care • Someone who is prepared ‘not to give up on people’ • Someone who can be part of team and work in partnership with many other organisations. • Someone looking to work in a health and social care setting or has come from a health and social care setting.
